Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.
A little bit of this and a little bit of that!

In an annual ritual that ended Monday, worshippers from across the Caribbean nation arrived for the weeklong Saut d'Eau pilgrimage.
The ritual, among Haitian Voodoo's holiest, comes amid a surge of violence in Haiti's capital that U.N. officials say is an attempt to destabilize the new government of President Rene Preval.
Saut d'Eau's mystique owes to a 19th century legend that an image of the Virgin Mary appeared in the waterfalls. Believing the waters hold magical powers, followers strip to their underwear and scrub their bodies with aromatic mint leaves and soap.
Arms raised to the heavens, they ask the gods for help with fixing broken relationships, curing sickness and even lucky lottery tickets. Some collapse in convulsions, overcome by emotion -- or maybe spirit gods, called loas in Voodoo.

"Your love has given me great joy and encourage-ment, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints." —Philemon vs. 7 NIV
How many times has someone come up to you and said, "Hello there, do you remember me?" You haven't the faintest idea who that person is and you are so embarrassed. We have a temporary friendship with so many along the path of simple living -- neighbors who stay for just a short time, people we meet at a resort or convention. It is so hard to remember everyone.
In today's scripture, Paul is telling his friend how happy he is that his friend has "refreshed the hearts of the saints." Perhaps you may not remember everyone's name, but who knows what an impact you have had on the people you have met. If you allow the Lord to be your guide, you may be able to encourage and inspire someone during that short fellowship together. If so, you're responding to Jesus' command: "Love your neighbor as yourself."
You may not remember that person, but your caring love may have enriched the life of that person without your even being aware of it. And that is the blessing!Heavenly Father, give me a loving, caring heart to bring others closer to you. Amen.
With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up. As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!
Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less
NOW -------- Enough of that . . . The donkey later came back, and bit the farmer who had tried to bury him. The gash from the bite got infected, and the farmer eventually died in agony from septic shock.
MORAL FROM TODAY'S LESSON: When you do something wrong, and try to cover your butt, it always comes back to bite you.
British health food shops will soon be offering customers iced cannabis tea, its Swiss distributor said.

Sold under the label "C-Ice Swiss Cannabis Ice Tea", the beverage contains five percent of hemp flower syrup and a tiny (0.0015 percent) quantity of THC, the active ingredient of marijuana.
Any ingredient that could put it in the drugs category has been removed and the tea will not lead to dependency.
But British anti-drug campaigners say that selling the tea is dangerous because it will give young people the impression that cannabis is commonplace.
The product was launched in Switzerland in 2003 and is already available in Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain.
