Romance For Everyone

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

They say that there is someone for everyone out there. I sure do hope that is true as I am still waiting for my prince to come. I am amazed that some people have no problem finding multiple partners to have really long term relationships with and I have yet to have one that lasts longer than a year or two. Sad really. And it is not me. Most of my relationships ended because the so called boyfriend was cheating. Only on one occasion do I recall "said boyfriend" wanting to get back together and of course that was not happening. You had a good thing and you lost it. There is no second chances with me when it comes to cheating.

I know there are many other people out there and some I even know, that will take that cheating spouse/boyfriend back. I lost all trust at that point so taking a second chance would be really hard to do. Going there again would really be something that take a very long time to do. I think that if you broke up and went right back, the issues that began it all in the first place have not been resolved. So, you might as well plan to break up again. A second chance at love or relationship really would take commitment and time to work through all the issues that were unresolved. Then the task of overcoming them would begin.

A break up is a very hard thing to survive. I remember crying rivers and screaming into my pillow daily. Mostly I remember crying for months. Normally I did not have too many girlfriends so often I did not have a good support network when I did have a breakup. Many times we had mutual friends together who had to pick and choose. That was hard too. I think that surviving the break up requires friends and family who are supportive, lots of chocolate and a very sharp pair of scissors. Well, you have to cut up every picture of "HIM" and you together! In addition, you might just have to get rid of all reminders. All those gifts and cards and stuffed animals for the bed. Trash! Every last one of them!

I always took the time after a bad breakup to reinvent me. I would be alone, swear off men and I always tried to do special things just for me. With time I would be alright! So will you. Just don't get crazy! All those fanatical things that some people do are just not worth it. Trust me, that man is just not worth it. Think about the NASA women astronaut who rode 900 miles in a diaper to go after the new girlfriend. Trust me, he was not worth giving up a career like that.

Check out the links in the paragraphs above. There are actually some very good tips for surviving a break up and even tips on how to give love a second chance. They say that there is someone for everyone. I sure do hope that is true...I AM still waiting for my prince to come.

Cobweb Spiders in Texas

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

This is my worst nightmare come to life. To actually find out that there are cobweb spiders that work together is just plain scary! Who knew. I thought this was a fake story but no. It is not! Now I would want to see it but it reminds me of the episode of the x files in which loggers cut down a tree and something that was alive in the rings gets out and it attackes at night and spins a web around you. At the very end Fox and Mulder were trying to leave the forest when they were attacked or swarmed. That was a very creepy episode! I think I will have to go watch it again on tomorrow.

Etomologists are debating the origin and rarity of a sprawling spider web that blankets several trees, shrubs and the ground along a 200-yard stretch of trail in a North Texas park.

Officials at Lake Tawakoni State Park say the massive mosquito trap is a big attraction for some visitors, while others won't go anywhere near it.

"At first, it was so white it looked like fairyland," said Donna Garde, superintendent of the park about 45 miles east of Dallas. "Now it's filled with so many mosquitoes that it's turned a little brown. There are times you can literally hear the screech of millions of mosquitoes caught in those webs."

Spider experts say the web may have been constructed by social cobweb spiders, which work together, or could be the result of a mass dispersal in which the arachnids spin webs to spread out from one another.

Free Raleigh, NC Getaway

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

I lived in North Carolina for quite a few years; first in Chapel Hill, then in Durham. I loved North Carolina because it had all four seasons. While I was there, I did have the opportunity to go to Raleigh many times for shopping and other attractions. While North Carolina is still a very rural place, there are pockets of big city life, bright lights and even big money. I thought there was still a down home country feel to most things and places when I lived there, but I did love the seasons.

When I lived there I had a chance to go to the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. I went there several times with family when they came to visit me and with the guy I was dating at that time. Now there is an exhibit going on called Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries. This is not your mama's school course on dinosaurs. This is a modern up to date scientific look at what life for the dinosaurs would have been like. It gives a window into their world. That is just one of many things to do and see in that city. It has so many things to do that it has been nicknamed the "Smithsonian of the South." There are also performing arts like the symphony and theatre and visual arts like art shows and galleries to visit.

I do believe I have said before, the season changes are a big thing for me. I was amazed to see the leaves change for the very first time ever when I experienced my first fall there. Never was there anything as beautiful to me. I took many pictures that first fall. I remember one very large tree in the middle of a cemetary in Durham that was just stunning! Then we had ice storms in the winter. That was wonderful and exciting as well! Raleigh and that entire triangle area make the perfect Fall Getaway because many people simply do not realize what a secret treasure that area is!

Of course there are also the historical landmarks to visit and appreciate. For example, Raleigh is rich in African American heritage with landmarks in education, business, religion and medicine. There are also downtown walking tours of the historical landmarks of the city. There are many options for the vacationer or visitor to the city. Right now there is a way to go there absolutely free! You need to register for the FREE Raleigh Getaway contest. You might win the following:
-One night accommodations for two at the Courtyard by Marriott Raleigh Crabtree Valley
-$25 gift certificate to Bloomsbury Bistro
-Free VIP admission for two to Rum Runners
-2 tickets to the North Carolina Theatre
-2 tickets to the N.C. Museum of Art’s Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism
-2 tickets to Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences

Someone has to win so do not forget to enter! It might just be you. You could be on your way top see the leaves change. It is September now you know. Or, even better, if you went in winter, you will be getting just the right amount of snow and ice to make you really savor the beauty of winter. Raleigh! It's for everyone! SO, plan your trip or enter the sweepstakes today! Fun and excitement await you!

Book Crazy

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

Recently I have gone stark raving mad at my local Barnes and Noble. I have bought about 28 books over the last 2 months. Why? My intention is to read them. As soon as I hear someone talking about a new book, well, I just run out and get it. It would be better if I checked them out at my local library. They would be free. Here is a list of some of the books I have bought. These are just the ones I got in the last week and a half:
  • The Idiot by Fyodor Dostoevsky
  • The Prince and Other Writings by Niccolo Machiavelli
  • It's Never Too Late by Patrick Lindsay
  • Toxic Parents by Susan Forward
  • American Visa by Juan De Recacoechea
  • The Woman Who Laughed at God by Jonathan Kirsch
  • Charleston BlackSmith by John Vlach
  • Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows by J. K. Rowling
I really have my work cut out for me because I have even reserved some books at the library. Right now I have reserved Garden Spells by Sarah Allen and Lisey's Story by Stephen king. There almost does not seem not enough hours in the day. Before I can even begin any of the list here, I have to at least read a book or two from the other 20 I bought before these! Books have become my addiction. I love them.

Digital Me

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

My digital camera is part of my body. It goes with me whereever I go. It lives in my purse and I am on the lookout for the perfect picture moment of every second of everyday. For my photoblog. Plus I am the webmaster for my church website, so I have to have it with me at all times to capture church activities. I just wish I had invested more money into it so that I could have gotten more features. I got my camera for myself for Christmas about 3 years ago. It is an HP and it came from Walmart and the cost was about $99.00.

Don't get me wrong, it is a nice one and very functional. I am envious of the brand new digital camera I just got my child for a birthday gift. It is a lot snazzier than the one I have and believe me it cost more! I guess I will eventually replace mine for a more advanced version. Nikon cameras are also some of the cameras I will consider once I replace mine. I have looked at all the brands out there and I am not sure what I want at this time. My brother is also a photographer and has a wonder Nikon camera and all the gadgets and lenses that go with it. I think these days digital cameras are just a part of life now. It is hard to imagine using cameras with film anymore.

I love taking pictures of nature, the ocean, the beach , marsh, flowers, birds and animals. The picuture below called Winter Pier is one of my favorites. I love the beach in the winter time. It is bitterly cold and windy but that is the best time to charge up the batteries for the digital camera and start clicking. I took this one winter when I was visiting Hilton Head Island.

When my daughter graduated from middle school I took my camera but I also went out and bought a cam corder..my first one. It takes pictures too, so I thrilled with that. It has some of the extra camera features that I was looking for. Digital cameras are here to stay. With the ease of use and the many features they do, even emailing, I just can't see anyone out there NOT having one. Plus the prices are good. They are economical. With the holidays coming, it would make the perfect gift for friends, family or you can do what I did and buy one for yourself! You can then be the digital you!

Time Keeps on Ticking Away

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

Well today my Saturday was not my own. I had to take my mother out shopping. She was going to a birthday of a cousin of ours and only was going to get a hat. The party was themed. Everyone had to wear a dress hat. Well there is only one store near us that has the kind of hats she needed..Burlington's Coat Factory. Well, we had to go to the mall and stop at store after store and finally the entire day was wasted on just driving her around to window shop. We did not make it to the store for hats until 3:30. The party was at 6, so she had just enough time to get a hat and go home, rest for just a little while and then get ready. I had to take her to the party.

Well, my whole day was shot. I then spent the next 3 hours doing laundry. No time for me or to do anything that I wanted to do.

Well, a different cousin calls today wanting to know if we could come to their house for a picnic next Saturday. She called this morning. My mother asked if I had anything planned. I kind of did. There is a jazz festival coming that I was thinking of going to. My mother told her that I did not have anything really planned so we could go. Now after today. That will be changing. Next Saturday will belong to just me. the only planned thing I have to do is laundry.

Laundry is an issue because when my father died in December, I moved in with her in March. All of my worldly possessions are in storage. My washer and dryer are in storage. Since then mom's washer broke and she is refusing to let me bring my washer to her house. Why? She does not want me to use her electricity. From the very beginning she made up some rule that she did not want me to use her machine or dryer. She was afraid they would brake. Totally irrational and stupid. It is now broken because it is very very old. Apparently it was already broken and my father was patching it up and keeping it going. Now since he is gone, he is not here to patch it up. Her not wanting me to use the washer and dryer is just a control issue with her.

The thing is she has to take her own clothes to the laundry mat and she says that is fine with her. Well, since it takes now hours for me to do clothes, I do not have hours to give up to her or anyone else on a Saturday, unless I make that decision. Next Saturday..just for me. Will that cause a problem this week. Yes. I can already see the fights and chaos we will have this week. But that is okay. I just do not have the time to give up on a Saturday when 3 hours of it is already committed to spending unneeded time in a laundry mat.

Junk Everywhere

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

Let me tell you. My parents are hoarders. My father was a hoarder in the worst way. He never threw anything away. In the garage there are broken televisions from the 1960's. I had an umbrella with a duck head from 1987 that was broken. Back then I was living in another state and asked him to throw the umbrella away as it was broken then. I just found that umbrella about a month ago. My father had removed the broken nylon and just kept the duck head on the spindle. The garage itself used to have some order but things are in disarray now. Some of that was due to the fact that he could not keep the garage up anymore before he died in December. Things used to be in order when I was younger. Lots of things but in order. He build in some selves in that garage and the one attached to the house. I think that having some sort of cabinet would be beneficial for some of the things they have in both of those garages.

Storage Cabinets would be the way I would go if the garage was mine. I would throw out lots of stuff and then reorganize. My father has all sorts of tools and equipment for all sorts of stuff. Now since he has passed away, my mother wants me to try to clean it up and organize it. She really can't do it either. Storage cabinets would go a long way in making the garage more functional. We would be able to walk a clear path. Where would I go for them? I might just check out Car Guy Garage as they have over 1000 different products to help a junky garage. There are cabinets of every kind from stainless steal to metal and diamond plate.

We women would like that site. We would be able to put everything in its place. They even have bike racks and shelving units. For hanging tools there are pegboard panels. I know that I definitely need something like that. My father left tools all over. The tools alone will take about a month to go through. With time, the day will come when we will be able to open the garage door and leave it open. Now we can't do that. There is just so much stuff. Check out Car Guy Garage. With all the things needed to organize a garage, you will never have to be ashamed when the garage door opens.

The Snake Rears Its Ugly Head

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

Well I have been hearing that Osama has again crawled out of the woodwork, where ever he is hiding. I can't believe he is still hanging on. I thougth he was ill and on dialysis. With the anniversary of 9/11 just next week it is just terrible that he is up to his stuff. I know that on the morning news they said that his beard was black in the video and that they would be analyzing the tape. Does that mean anything? Who knows. I just wish he could be found, wherever he is hiding.

Back Again

Snapshots In My Time...
Of My Time.....Hauntings.

It has been awhile. I have been busy with being busy. I have been job hunting and trying out various things here and there. Some new things are in the works. But whatever I do, I will be grateful that I will be out of the house. I think that my mother needs to find something to do with her time. She has focused all her negative energy on me. She says that I do not do anything fun with her. How can you do anything fun with someone who is always saying rude, insulting things to you? You will do as I do. Take them to run errands and shopping as needed. But fun stuff? No. No reason to try to do anything fun as she is not fun to be around. Just the necessities. She can't get that for some reason.

She can't get that if you insult someone for no reason day in and day out and with no cause at all, that that person would not want to be around you. All my things are still in storage. This is not worth it. I may a monthly fee to keep my stuff, but I really want to move out. There is no comfort here.
