I was away for a week and slept on a different mattress each night. Some were lumpy, some were just dowmright hard and some were most comfortable. Regardless, each night was restful and I awoke feeling good. Now since I have been back, sleep , at least resrful sleep seems to be gone.

I sleep and wake each day feeling like a mac truck has run over me. I wonder if it is stress. I feel achy and tired like I have run a marathon during the night. I know most nights I go to bed stressed and I can wake up at the drop of a feather if I hear any sort of noise. It is like I am always anticipating something right before I go to bed. Most of the time that feeling of anticipation is correct.

I guess that is staying with me all night long. Stress is a funny thing. It can cause physical ailments. I spend most days struggling to keep my eyes open by mid afternoon. In reality, I have to just go to my car and take a 15 minutes snooze to make it or I could literally fall alseep at my desk if I were to close my eyes. Sleep deprevation. I think that is what that is. I sleep but somehow not sleep.

Whoever said grasshoppers were harmless? Are not they the cousin to the locust? Last night about 9pm I was coming home and I approached the side door off the garage. There was a bright green, really pretty grasshopper on the door. If I put in my key I was afraid it would hop on me. I am not afraid of the grass hopper like I am of the killer praying mantis. Just the same, I did not want it too close to me.

I raised the Art of War and waved it near the grasshoppser hoping it would hopaway to some other place. It did. It hopped to the opposite wall next to the door. I waited about 10 seconds and it was very still. I did not move. It was now to my right and I would have no problems getting the key in the lock. I made a step forward and all of a sudden, it leaped, with fangs outstretched toward my face into my face and hit me in the bottom lip. It clung to my lip and I began to jump and flail my arms and made movements toward my lip. fiannly it let go and off it flew to parts unknown. Grasshoppers harmless my eye! They are the distant cousin to the mantis. I should have know better. Next time, no waving of the book. It will be smashing of the book on its lime green body!

The Art of War

I finally picked up the Art of War at Barnes and Noble week before last. The Art of War is most dry! I get the concepts but I really have to concentrate to follow along. And don't let me be sleepy. Out like a light I go!

I think it was Survivor China in which all the playes were encouraged before the show to get the book and read. It has some good concepts but you really have to think about how to work them into your daily interaction with people. I suspect I will be reading it for a 2nd time, just to be sure I get the full idea. Somethings seem crystal clear and others seem obscure and hard to relate to this modern world. I need it thought. Too many times I find myself on the attck from others. I am reading the book to hopefully gain just a little insight to be able to defend myself just a litle better.

Entering was easy. Just be real and tell a little about yourself in your essay. I was motivated because when I was in my 20's I used to work for Estee Lauder. I loved that line and working for them gave me the knowledge I needed to know that skincare, how we maintain our skin and actual products used on the skin, can and will make a drastic difference in the aging process. While I still use that cosmetic line now, I use it hit or miss when I have time. I want to look younger and Artefill uses a wrinkle filler that is really supposed to make a difference in the appearance of aging skin. I am all for that pickme up. It will minimize smile lines and other small wrinkles.

I truly believe that taking care of our skin will go a long way in keeping women looking young. I look around me in the faces of women I see every day and may do not use much of anything, not even that much makeup where I work. They look tough. Some of the women in my own family do nothing in the way of skin care or makeup. I am the opposite. I always want to look as good as I feel because that will keep me young. Why look older than we really are? I truly believe you are as young as you feel. Having great skin is in keeping with that as well.

You Are Never More Than 6 Feet Away From A Spider!

Who was it who said that you are never more than six feet from a spider? I do not know but I just heard it again recently on a tv show. CSI? Tracking a woman who has split personalities? No, it was Cold Case or something. I forget. She collected spiders and milked them. This morning I get into the shower and I was scrubbing when something told me to look down. I had the odd sensation that something was near my heel. The left one. I looked down and smashed was a very large spider. I had smashed it with my foot while I was taking a shower. Not a daddy long legs. It was some hideously large spider with a bulbous stomach. It legs were all crunched up and the only thin I could think of was Arachnaphobia! I almost screamed. I looked frantically up and around the shower in all directions. Was there a web? Were there more? I was freaked. I told myself to hurry up and get out. I did. Where did it come from? It was hunting for me and I luckily won. Not by any skill, but by having my eyes closed, washing my face in the shower.

My motto? The only good spider is a crushed spider! It is true no matter what you are doing or where in the world you are. Even in the most spotlessly clean homes, those spiders are lurking. Even while sleeping. You are never more than six feet from a spider.

Weary to the bone, I look to a new day.

It will be the mental distance that will be good.

I think I have finally had enought. Well.
It was a long time ago.

I finally realize what a friend told me.
